This multi-session GoMTB Level 2 course is a fantastic opportunity for any young experienced riders (see details below) who want to develop their skills and experience in off-road biking. Over these, and following sessions, participants will be working towards level GoMTB level 2 and will be learning the skills required for:

  • Good trail riding skills on easy terrain
  • Effective use of brakes
  • Changing gears smoothly and efficiently on a variety of terrains
  • Anticipating gear changes
  • Climb easy hills sitting and standing
  • Descend easy trails
  • Manoeuvre through obstacles

It is vital that participants reach the required standard to take part in this course and must have passed, or have the minimum skills required to pass GoMTB 1, as follows:

  • Getting on and off the bike
  • Start of and pedal
  • Stop without help
  • Make the bike go where they want
  • Change Gear
  • Manoeuvre Safely to avoid obstacles
  • Look around without wobbling whilst riding slowly
  • Ride on handed over easy terrain
  • Ride an easy trail

Please note: These GoMTB sessions aim to complete as much of the course as possible, but sometimes it is not possible as the participant has not quite acquired the skills and needs to practise further. If this is the case, the participant can book another GoMTB session of the same level and complete the award.  If you have any questions, please email.

We will provide all the necessary equipment, including a bike if required, but please make sure the participants are appropriately dressed in suitable, warm clothing, is wearing appropriate footwear for riding a bike and has the following with them:

  • Backpack (can be provided)
  • Packed lunch
  • Water bottle

Participants wishing to bring their own bikes may do so, but it must be in good working order, with gears and brakes fit for purpose.  Our instructor will do a basic safety check and, if the bike is deemed unsuitable, a bike will be provided.

Attendance will be consistent with the advice from the Scottish Government regarding COVID-19  Any participants or household members MUST NOT be displaying any known COVID-19 symptoms. Outfit Moray will follow Scottish Government guidelines to ensure the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 is as low as reasonably practical.
